The short film is based around the idea that inspiration can strike you anywhere, and given the right tools, you can do magic without the need for expensive equipment. Watch audio engineer Ivo Sotirov record a performance with the Orion Studio Synergy Core in a truly unique and organic setting. The different acoustic of the location complimented the beautiful vocals of singer Kimberly Walker, while the talented musicians – Craig (drums), Jonathan (keys) and Chris (bass) worked their magic. Hosting the experience was Silver Hammer Studios – a recording facility built into an 80-year-old mansion in the heart of North London. Miking was done by Ed and Max from Hammer Audio. In this behind-the-scenes video, we had Antelope’s UK ambassador Nik Georgiev sent on a hard-hitting mission to “The Friary Studios” – a music production, recording and mixing studio in Aspley Guise, England. The recorded drum session, which he helped to set-up, features Antelope’s modeling mics, the Goliath HD | Gen 3 audio interface and some of the studio’s own, impressive outboard gear. With Chris Webb, Hugh Neal and Ivo Sotirov handling the engineering process little could go wrong. As part of the ongoing recording sessions for our album, we went into Friary Studios at the end of April to put down drums for two more tunes. Jerry Brown, one of our favourite drummers was on top form and he was assisted in putting down the best sound possible by studio owner Chris Webb and recording engineer Ivo Sotirof. After doing a recce a week before to discuss microphones and signal paths, Gordon was very happy to leave the session in the expert hands of Chris & Ivo. After spending a few years on various tour busses and in green rooms on live gigs, Chris & Gordon have discovered that they closely share a wide range of aesthetics in recording techniques, gear and capturing performances, so using Friary Studios was a no-brainer.
